How to play Daidi
Goal
Be the first player to empty your hand. The game continues until all four finishing places are decided.
Card order
Ranks run from 3 (lowest) through 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, Jack, Queen, King, Ace, and 2 (highest).
Suits run Diamonds, Clubs, Hearts, then Spades from lowest to highest.
Starting and taking turns
- The player holding the 3 of Diamonds leads, and the opening play must include that card.
- You cannot pass before the opening play.
- Afterward, play the same number of cards as the current play with a higher value, or pass.
- After every other active player passes, the trick clears and the leader may play any valid hand.
Valid hands
Five-card hands, lowest to highest
Straight — five consecutive ranks (A–5 lowest through 10–A highest; J–2 is not a straight)
Flush — five cards of one suit; compare suit first, then the highest rank
Full house — three of one rank and two of another
Four of a kind — four of one rank plus any other card
Straight flush — a straight in one suit; 10–A is highest (royal flush)
Important: do not finish on a 2
If your final play contains a 2, you receive the lowest finishing place still available instead of a normal finish.
Game modes
- Normal mode allows 90 seconds for the opening turn and 45 seconds for later turns.
- Speed mode has a 30-second opening period followed by 7-second turns.
